Happiness is a voyage, not a destination

We convince ourselves that life will be better once we are married, have a baby, then another.
Then we get frustrated because our children are not old enough, and that all will be well when they are older.
Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with them. Surely we’ll be happier when they grow out of the teen years.
We tell ourselves our life will be better when our spouse gets his/her act together, when we have a nicer car, when we can take a vacation, when we finally retire.
The truth is that there is no better time to be happy than right now.
If not, then when?
Your life will always be full of challenges. It is better to admit as much and to decide to be happy in spite of it all.
For the longest time, it seemed that life was about to start. Real life.
But there was always some obstacle along the way, an ordeal to get through, some work to be finished, some time to be given, a bill to be paid. Then life would start.
I finally came to understand that those obstacles were life.
That point of view helped me see that there isn’t any road to happiness.
Happiness IS the road.
So, enjoy every moment.
Stop waiting for school to end, for a return to school, to lose ten pounds, to gain ten pounds, for work to begin, to get married, for Friday evening, for Sunday morning, waiting for a new car, for your mortgage to be paid off, for spring, for summer, for fall, for winter, for the first or the fifteenth of the month, for your song to be played on the radio, to die, to be reborn… before deciding to be happy.
Happiness is a voyage, not a destination.
There is no better time to be happy than… NOW!
Live and enjoy the moment.
-Author unknown
Now, think and try to answer these questions: 1 – Name the 5 richest people in the world. 2 – Name the last 5 Miss Universe winners.3 – Name the last 10 Nobel Prize winners. 4 – Name the last 10 winners of the Best Actor Oscar.
Can’t do it? Rather difficult, isn’t it?
Don’t worry, nobody remembers that.
Applause dies away!
Trophies gather dust!
Winners are soon forgotten.
Now answer these questions:
1 – Name 3 teachers who contributed to your education.
2 – Name 3 friends who helped you in your hour of need. 3 – Think of a few people who made you feel special.4 – Name 5 people that you like to spend time with.
More manageable? It’s easier, isn’t it?
The people who mean something to your life are not rated “the best”, don’t have the most money, haven’t won the greatest prizes…
They are the ones who care about you; take care of you, those who, no matter what, stay close by.
Think about it for a moment.
Life is very short!
And you, in which list are you? Don’t know?
Let me give you a hand.
You are not among the most “famous”, but among those to whom I remember to send this message…
Some times ago, at the Seattle Olympics, nine athletes, all mentally or physically challenged, were standing on the start line for the 100 m race.
The gun fired and the race began. Not everyone was running, but everyone wanted to participate and win.
They ran in threes, a boy tripped and fell, did a few somersaults and started crying.
The other eight heard him crying.
They slowed down and looked behind them.
They stopped and came back… All of them…
A girl with Down’s Syndrome sat down next to him, hugged him and asked, “Feeling better now?”Then, all nine walked shoulder to shoulder to the finish line.
The whole crowd stood up and applauded. And the applause lasted a very long time…
People who witnessed this still talk about it.
Why?
Because deep down inside us, we all know that the most important thing in life is much more than winning for ourselves.
The most important thing in this life is to help others to win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our own race.

May Allah grant you the serenity to accept what you cannot change, Courage to change what you can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

You may like it or hate it...

You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it
will be yours for the entire period this time around.

You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full time
information school called Life. Each day in this school you will
have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons
or think them irrelevant or stupid.

There are no mistakes, only lessons. The "failed" experiments
are as much a part of the process as the experiment that "works."

A lesson is repeated until learned. It will be presented in
various forms until you have learned it. Then you can go on to the
next lesson.

Learning lessons DOES NOT END.

"There" is no better than "here." When your "there" has become
"here," you will simply obtain another "there" that will, again,
look better than "here."

Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate
something about another person unless it reflects to you something
that you love or hate in yourself.

What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools
and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The
choice IS yours.

Your answers lie WITHIN YOU. The answers to life's questions
lie INSIDE YOU. All you need to do is listen, look and trust.

You WILL forget this!

Be a lion.....

In a poor zoo of India , a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more than 1 kg meat a day.

One day the lion thought it's prayers were answered when a Saudi Zoo
Manager visited the zoo and requested the zoo management to shift the lion to a Saudi zoo.

The lion was pleased and started thinking of a central A/C environment, a goat or two every day.

On it's first day after arrival, the lion was offered a big bag, sealed very nicely, for breakfast.
It opened the bag quickly but was shocked to see that it contained only a few bananas.
Controlling its anger, the lion thought that may be they cared too much for him as they were worried
about his stomach as he had recently shifted from India . The next day the same thing happened.

On the third day again the same food bag of bananas was delivered.
Now the lion was furious. It stopped the delivery boy and blasted him, "Don't you know, I am the lion...
King of the Jungle....What' s wrong with your management? What nonsense is this ? Why are you delivering bananas to me ?"

The delivery boy politely said, "Sir, I know you are the King of the Jungle but....
do you know that you have been brought here on a Monkey's visa!!!

Moral: Better to be a Lion in India than a Monkey elsewhere!!

A reminder

"What has come to you? You are happy and pleased with the paltry and worthless - easily obtainable pleasures of this world, and the deprivation of immense and abundant bounties of the Heaven does not grieve you" .
"...........as if you and this world are both immortals and as if its wealth and pleasures are everlasting".
"Remember that it is better to have less in this world and more in the next, than to have more in this world and less in Heaven because very few things here are really beneficial and many are ultimately harmful"
"Undoubtedly, HE has made himself responsible for your livelihood and has ordained for good deeds. Under these circumstances beware lest you exert yourself continuously for that which has already been promised and allotted and neglect that which you have been ordered to. You feel it as your duty to concentrate solely on acquiring more and more of that which has already been guaranteed to you by God and to neglect the duties which He has laid down upon you"

Time & Money

To describe it's importance, the Time is generally compared with Money.
However, the Time is too precious a commodity to be compared with any thing, least the money.
If we understand, the Time is actually our LIFE.
Like every thing else, both money and time(our life) are also God's Amanat with us, and these two things are on the top of the list of things about which we would be questioned after death i.e. how we earned (money) and how we spent our lives and money.
But apart from the questioning after death, the time is much more valuable than money, because......

1. Money, whether spent in justifiable manner or otherwise wasted, can be earned again.
Time - either spent wisely or otherwise, can not be retrieved.
2. Money can be saved for spending at an appropriate occasion in future
Time can not be saved like money- as it goes by - passes minute by minute -even if we dont
wish to consume it in any manner.

But, I am a Veterinary Doctor......

Once a man went to a Veterinary (Animal) Doctor and said: Doctor I came on vacation so that I can get treated.
Doctor: I think you should go to the Doctor opposite to my clinic.
Man: No, I am coming to you.
Doctor: But, I am a Veterinary Doctor. I am an animal specialist.
Man: I know, but I want you to treat me.
Doctor: I cannot, because you speak like me and think like me which means you are a human, not an animal.
Man: I know I am same and I am a human but the problem is I get up in the morning like a horse, I go to work like a deer, I work all day like a donkey, I wag my tail in front of my manager like a dog, I play with my children like a monkey, I am like a rabbit in front of my wife,
Doctor asked: Do you work in bank?
Man: Yes.
Doctor yelled: Come dear, no body will treat you better than me.

How the Stock Market works...

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10.
The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50."
The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!!
Welcome to the "Stock" Market!!!!!

How expatriates being motivated to work like donkeys ?

A wiseman & a youngman

The Wise Man & The Young ManThere was once an old wise man who live on top of a mountain. (I don'tknow why the wise men always like to stay on top of mountains.)Whenever the villagers had a problem, they would climb up the mountainand ask the old man for advice. One day a young man decided to climb up and ask the old man a question."Wise man," he asked, "What makes a man truly great?"The old man looked at him and said, "Do you sincerely want to know?""Yes, yes!" the young man replied the wise man."Well," the wise old man said to him, "Let me tell you in the form ofa story"There was once a Greek man who suffered from a deadly disease. Knowingthat he will die soon, he was the first to join the army when hiscountry was in a battle with the enemy. Hoping to die in battle, hewould fight in the front line, exposing himself without any worry forhis life. Eventually they won the battle and he was still alive. Hisgeneral was so impressed with his bravery which contributed much tothe victory. The general decided to promote him and award him with medals ofbravery and honor. On the day of presentation, he was looking verydown and sad. Curiously, the general asked him the reason why and wastold of his deadly disease. "How could I let such a brave soldierdie?", the general thought. So the general hired the best physicianand finally cured the soldier. But from that day onwards, the oncevaliant soldier was no longer seen at the front. He would always avoiddanger and tries his best to avoid danger and protect his life."Young man", he wise man said, "if you want to be truly great, youmust not be scared of dying, you must be daring."

White bull and Brown bull - Story

Once upon a time three bulls lived in the forest. One white, one brown and one black. They were brothers and lived together in harmony. In that forest also lived a tiger who had his eye on the bulls. But every time he attacked one of them the others came to his aid and together they drove the tiger away.
The tiger decided that he needed to change his strategy. So one day when the Black Bull was away, he went to the other two and said, "You know, the Black Bull is black and dirty and evil. Why do you keep him with you? His is a disgrace to you. You are beautiful and noble. If the Black Bull is no longer there, you will have all the grazing to yourself. He takes away your food and adds no value to you." The two bulls listened to the tiger's spiel and said, "Well, you know, he is our brother. What can we do?"
"You need not do anything at all," said the tiger. "I am your friend. I will do what needs to be done. Just don't come to the aid of the Black Bull when he calls you." The others agreed.
The next day, they heard the voice of the Black Bull calling for help in anguish and fear. They listened to him and went back to their grazing. Gradually the calls stopped. The two brothers could not look each other in the eye but then, nice green grass wipes away memories and after a little while it was as if the Black Bull never existed.
Then one day the tiger came to the White Bull when he was alone and said, "So are you happy with the advice I gave you? Didn't I advise you well? Now here is another advice. You are the real king of the forest. You are White and clean and pure and holy and beautiful. You are wise and good. You deserve to live in solitary splendor like a king. Not with some dirty brown trash who you have to share your food with. Why do you need him? He is a liability and an embarrassment to you."
"Well, what should I do?"
"You know the score. Nothing at all. I am there to take care of everything for you. Just relax."
Next day, the White Bull heard the dying screams of the Brown Bull and closed his ears and went back to his grazing.
The White Bull lived for a few days all by himself, grazing where he wanted and drinking from the clean streams of the forest. Then one morning the tiger came again. From the look in his eyes, the White Bull knew that this visit was different. All his life flashed before his eyes. He recalled the time when the three brothers stood together, shoulder to shoulder. Then he recalled all the incidents since then. As the tiger sat before him, not in any hurry, knowing that the result was pre-determined, the White Bull said to him, "I have one last wish. Will you grant it to me?"
"Anything at all, my friend", said the tiger.
The White Bull then climbed a hill and when he got to the top of it, he called out to the people of the forest, "O! People, I do not die today. I died the day the Black Bull died

Are you a good leader ?

Are you a good leader?

While leadership is easy to explain, leadership is not so easy to practice. Leadership is about behavior first, skills second. In order to be a good leader, you have to build the trust and respect of the people you manage.
Leadership is based on integrity, honesty, humility, courage, commitment, sincerity, passion, confidence, positivity, wisdom, determination, compassion and sensitivity. As a leader, you are more than just a manager and you need to instill your values to all levels below you. As a leader, there is only one way to function.
You have to be straight and open with everybody as it sets the tone for the organization. The courage to be open everybody is the true test of self-confidence and it’s the main requirement for a leadership. You have to be able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team and the right people in the right jobs. Communication is vital. Listen, consult, involve and explain why as well as what needs to be done.
Ensure you look after people and that communications and relationships are good. As a leader you must know yourself. Know your own strengths and weaknesses, so that you can build the best team around you. The way you work and conduct yourself will be the most you can possibly expect from your people.
If you set low standards you are to blame for low standards in your people. If it's not clear already, leadership is without doubt mostly about behavior, especially towards others. People who strive for these things generally come to be regarded and respected as a leader by their people.Constantly seek to learn from the people around you - they will teach you more about yourself than anything else. They will also tell you 90% of what you need to know to achieve your business goals.

Ordeals makes you beautiful

There was a couple who used to go to shop in the beautiful stores. They both liked antiques and pottery and especially teacups. One day in this beautiful shop they saw a beautiful teacup. They said, "May we see that? We've never seen one quite so beautiful." As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke.
"You don't understand," it said. "I haven't always been a teacup. There was a time when I was red and I was clay." My master took me and rolled me and patted me over and over and I yelled out, "let me alone", but he only smiled, "Not yet."
"Then I was placed on a spinning wheel," the teacup said, "and suddenly I was spun around and around and around. Stop it! I'm getting dizzy!" I screamed. But the master only nodded and said, 'Not yet."
Then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I wondered why he wanted to burn me, and I yelled and knocked at the door. I could see him through the opening and I could read his lips as He shook his head, "Not yet."
Finally the door opened, he put me on the shelf, and I began to cool. "There, that's better," I said. And he brushed and painted me all over. The fumes were horrible. I thought I would gag. "Stop it, stop it!" I cried. He only nodded, "Not yet."
Then suddenly he put me back into the oven, not like the first one. This was twice as hot and I knew I would suffocate. I begged. I pleaded. I screamed. I cried. All the time I could see him through the opening nodding his head saying, "Not yet."
Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I would never make it. I was ready to give up. But the door opened and he took me out and placed me on the shelf. One hour later he handed me a mirror and said, "Look at yourself." And I did. I said, "That's not me; that couldn't be me. It's beautiful. I'm beautiful."
"I want you to remember, then," he said, "I know it hurts to be rolled and patted, but if I had left you alone, you'd have dried up. I know it made you dizzy to spin around on the wheel, but if I had stopped, you would have crumbled. I knew it hurt and was hot and disagreeable in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you would have cracked. I know the fumes were bad when I brushed and painted you all over, but if I hadn't done that, you never would have hardened; you would not have had any color in your life. And if I hadn't put you back in that second oven, you wouldn't survive for very long because the hardness would not have held. Now you are a finished product. You are what I had in mind when I first began with you." God knows what He's doing (for all of us).He is the Potter, and we are His clay.He will mold us and make us, So that we may be made into a flawless piece of work To fulfill His good, pleasing, and perfect will.
A man went to a barbershop to have his haircut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."
"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.
"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."
"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"
"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."
"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world !"
